I hear this a lot and its straightforward to understand why. School was a big part of your childhood. Probabilities are many of your present pals today were made in school. And with it spanning over a number of years, there are a LOT of memories you are going to need to capture in the one book.
I find its better to split the book up into 3 sections - the years when you started, your middle school years and then your last years - ending with your graduation!
This makes it a natural progression that is easily followed and set up.
I have thrown out all my old school stuff!

Get onto the Net - if you've got a Facebook account, you should easily be able to track down some of your former school friends. Get in contact with them and ask if they have any of the old school stuff they don't want or use any more. I was able to get some neat stuff this way.
Finally, pay a visit to your former school. Tell them what you are up to and ask them if there are any materials they can part with. Class diaries, school newsletters and even a detention forms can truly add some real spice to your next school scrapbook.
