Wide rows that are about 3 feet apart are optimal for several different types of vegetables. If you are planning on growing peas, then this type of row will work the best. When you plant using wider rows, what you will discover is the plants will grow and offer shading action on the nearby soil. This type of planting will help save you time and money in regard to less weeds developing and less water to be used. The more shade that there is, the more moisture there will be in the ground. Plus, weed grow will be less due to the shade from the crops. The use of wide rows also diminishes the need for using supporting stakes for certain plants that grow.

Using peat moss is great for other purposes, but serves no purpose at all in regard to providing nutrients for the soil. In fact, peat moss is usually placed on top of the soil to keep the moisture in the dirt.
