Why Custom Fitting Golf Clubs Is Beneficial

by Tom Doerr

For a while now, many players have chosen to have their golf clubs custom fitted. The advantages of this is that when the instruments are modified to a person's exact style, the entire form is made more complete. This automatically should improve that player's game. The adjustments are done according to the customer's individual style of play. These alterations can be made to the instruments already used by the person; new instruments are not necessarily required.

The build as well as height of the customer in question is taken into account for the evaluation process. This alongside the most important aspect - the person's swing style - builds the report related to that customer. While this has been practiced by professional players for a few years now, club-makers have been coming up with improved designs for everyone else. These have improved many players' skills, but there is a threshold with that, because a design for masses cannot attend to all the necessary areas of any player.

Many specialist stores, fitting centers and pro shops are able to have instruments custom fitted. All that needs to happen is that the customer needs to hit a few balls while a computer evaluates the swings. This computer is known as a launch monitor.

After a while, the computer produces a reading that shows the person's swing style broken down. From there, the ideal instruments can be established. The computer even shows at what angles the heads of the instruments need to be to optimize the player's swing. The entire evaluation process takes under thirty minutes.

Depending on what the player's strengths, swing style, and weaknesses are, the launch monitor also shows what fits best. This effectively shows which instruments to choose if the player buys more in the future.

Having one's own golf clubs custom fitted will usually cost a small fee. This price is not static, however. In addition, if the fitting is done on new clubs, there is often no additional fee. The fitting is then considered part of the purchase.
